Indian women’s football team beat Nepal to reach SAFF finals

The Indian women’s football team entered the finals of the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship football tournament on Sunday due to their strong performance. India beat Nepal 1-0 in their last match of the group stage. Priyanka Devi scored the only goal of the match for India in the 66th minute. India’s head coach Alex Ambrose made two changes to his starting XI from the previous football match against Bangladesh, bringing in Nitu Linda and Lynda Kom in place of Kritina Devi and Santosh respectively.

The Indian women’s football team launched an early attack but the team failed to capitalize on many of its opportunities. Captain Shilky Devi made an opportunity to the left in the 19th minute and pushed the ball towards Sumati but she could not convert it into a goal. The Indian team had kept the pressure on Nepal’s defense from the beginning of the match.

In the 36th minute of the match, Amisha Baxla and in the 42nd minute Priyanka missed the goal. India’s dominance continued in the second half as well and in the 66th minute, Priyanka scored a goal to give the team the lead, which lasted till the end of the match. The final of the tournament will be played on Wednesday.
