Indian Super League: Kerala Blasters ends Mumbai City winning streak

Kerala Blasters on Sunday put a stop to defending champions Mumbai City FC’s campaign of four consecutive wins in the current season (ISL-2021) of the Indian Super League football tournament. The team of Kerala upset the Mumbai City team playing with 10 players by a huge margin of 3-0. However, the Mumbai team did not suffer any loss in the points table and it still remains on top.

This is the second win for Kerala Blasters in the current season. With this win, Kerala’s team has moved from eighth to fifth place in the points table of the Indian Super League. Coach Ivan Vukomanovic’s team has 9 points in the account of Kerala from 6 matches with 2 wins and 3 draws. Talking about the points table, after Mumbai, Hyderabad FC, Jamshedpur and Chennaiyin FC, who are at number two, third and fourth respectively, have 11-11 points.

At the same time, despite their second defeat, Mumbai’s team remains at the top of the points table. Mumbai City FC, playing under the supervision of Coach Des Buckingham, have 15 points from 5 wins in 7 matches.

For Kerala, Sahal Ahmed Samad (27th minute), Alvaro Vazquez (47th minute), Jorge Diaz (51st) scored the goals. In the football match, Mumbai goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz made excellent defenses on two-three occasions, otherwise the margin of victory for Kerala would have been bigger.
