The Indian football team will take on the same ground against the hosts on June 3 for a very tough match against Asian champions Qatar. The team’s preparations have not been very good and in such a situation, it will be tested in the World Cup and Asian Qualifiers matches as India and Qatar would battle on Thursday.
In this match, the Indian team will try to take inspiration from the match played against Qatar in September 2019. India then held a higher ranking Qatar to a goalless draw. This is considered to be the best result for India in recent times. India has to play their home match at Doha, the capital of Qatar as the Group E matches, which were postponed last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, are now being held at the same venue.
India did not perform well after the draw against Qatar. On the other hand, the Asian champions will enter this match with full confidence. India advanced here after a 0-6 defeat to UAE in a friendly match in March. Not only this, India had to cancel its national camp in early May and could not prepare well.
