Fred’s goal saved first win for Rangnick at Manchester United

Manchester United win over Crystal Palace

Manchester United dominated possession and enjoyed more shots than Crystal Palace – but a goal proved elusive for most of the football match. Manchester United win over Crystal Palace in the first game played with their new coach Ralf Rangnick. However, in the 77th minute, Fred’s shot from the edge of the box set up the competition and propelled United into sixth place in the Premier League. The goal came soon after Palace wasted the game’s best chance, as Jordan Ayew was unable to convert from a corner.

“With a training session and a lot of interaction with the team … what they did today, on the defensive, I had complete control of the game”, Rangnick said after the football match.

“Maybe one or two situations where it was a bit dangerous, but other than that we had complete control over the game… in the end, we deserved to win,” he added.

This was the Red Devils’ first match under the guidance of Ralf Rangnick, who was appointed after the sacking of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer two weeks ago, and for the meantime, Michael Carrick took over as interim coach. Rangnick, the former head of sport and development at Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, was then appointed interim manager of the club until the end of the season, after which he would remain at the club as a consultant for another two years.

Since separating from Solskjaer, United have won three and drawn one of their last four matches, most recently in a thrilling 3-2 win over Arsenal on Wednesday.
