Euro 2020 match updates: Belgium reached knockout stage, Denmark won group stage

Belgium advanced to the last-16 after beating Finland 2-0 and winning three out of as many games, while Denmark went on to win the Euro 2020 group stage after a 4-1 win over Russia. Below we have noted Euro 2020 Day 11 match updates.

Belgium continued to dominate possession on Monday and put Finland on the back foot, but forwards were only able to test goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky twice in the first half through Romelu Lukaku and Jeremy Doku, reports Xinhua news agency.

After the break, Belgium remained in control of the proceedings. But he had to wait until the 74th minute until Haddock deflected a header that fell off the post from his goal to break the deadlock.

Finland posed no threat to Belgium’s defense and scored a second goal seven minutes later as Lukaku regained his name on the scoreboard after using Kevin de Bruyne’s build-up work to win the game.

In the second game of Group B, Denmark defeated Russia 4–1 to secure a place in the round of 16. Russia played with a rock-solid defense before being marked as a hammer opener by Mikkel Damsgaard late in the first half.

Denmark mounted the pressure and made it two through Yussuf Poulsen, who took advantage of a moment of madness from defender Roman Jobin at the hour mark. Russia scored its consolation goal in the 70th minute when Artem Dzyuba converted a penalty. Denmark responded well and broke Russia’s resistance in the closing stages with goals from Andreas Christensen and Joakim Maehle.

With the results, Denmark snatched second place on goal difference with three points, followed by Group B winners Belgium (9 points) and followed by Finland (3 points) and Russia (3 points).
