Champions League - Juventus vs Chelsea prediction, team news, lineup

Last season’s Champions League winners Chelsea will look to rebound from last weekend’s loss to Manchester City when they travel to Juventus on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Italian giants are aiming for their fourth victory in five matches across all competitions, as well as to extend their unbeaten run against the Blues to four games. Here is our expert guess on Juventus vs Chelsea football prediction for the Champions League match of the season.

Team news

In Juventus’ 3-2 win over Sampdoria on Sunday both Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata were injured and will be out against Chelsea.

Kaio Jorge and Arthur are also out for the Serie A club.

Alongside Moise Kean, Dejan Kulusevski will fill in for Dybala up front.

Mason Mount will be evaluated before the trip to Turin but he was injured in the 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

While Christian Pulisic is out, Reece James and Jorginho were both forced off in the defeat, with the latter more likely to be passed fit than the former.

At the center-back position Thiago Silva is expected to start with Cesar Azpilicueta shifting to right wing-back to cover for James.

Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz are also set to be recalled.

Juventus vs Chelsea Prediction

When Chelsea was defeated by Manchester City in Premier League their unbeaten games streak came to an end. This will be the Blues’ first meeting with the Old Lady since a 3-0 defeat in Turin in 2012.

Chelsea should be able to recover from Saturday’s disappointment given Juventus’ poor start to the season.

Since Thomas Tuchel took over as manager the Blues defensive stability has been one of the club’s standouts qualities. Juventus are typically known for their defensive abilities, but in 2021 they have appeared surprisingly vulnerable

Both teams will regard Wednesday’s game as a “must-win” if they are to take first place in Group H. A hard-fought match is expected in Turin, but the Blues are expected to win by a slim margin.

Juventus possible starting lineup: Perin; Danilo, Chiellini, Bonucci, Sandro; Bentancur, Locatelli, Ramsey; Chiesa, Kean, Kulusevski

Chelsea possible starting lineup: Mendy; Christensen, T. Silva, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Kovacic, Jorginho, Alonso; Havertz, Lukaku, Werner

Our Prediction: Juventus 0-1 Chelsea
