Arsenal stuns Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United

Arsenal saw a painful end to a 10-match unbeaten run in all competitions in Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over the past weekend. Arsenal stuns Newcastle United to register another victory in their kitty. The second-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli at Emirates Stadium have resulted in four wins in the last five league games.

Retired after a poor start to the season, Mikel Arteta’s side are fifth, with West Ham in fourth place, while chasing a place in the Champions League the following season. Arteta said after Arsenal stuns Newcastle United, “I am happy with the points after losing to Liverpool. You have to win immediately.”

Eddie Howe had come in person for the first time since missing last weekend’s 3-3 draw against Brentford due to a positive coronavirus test. While the Saudi-led consortium that recently bought Newcastle talks about emulating the success of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain under ownership in the Middle East, Howe’s sole goal is to save Magpie from demotion.

Former Bournemouth boss Howe will have to get much better performance from his winless side to avoid a disastrous slip in the league. Already five points clear, Newcastle face crucial matches against their teammates who take on Norwich and Burnley next week.

Howe said, “The match was decided in the Callum Wilson incident and a penalty – a stern appeal against us – then scored later. The moment is very important in football. We have to get that win as fast as possible.”
