Armando Broja joins Chelsea on five-year deal

Chelsea has signed Armando Broja, who impressed on loan with Vitesse Arnhem last season. Broja, an Albanian international, joins Chelsea after signing a five years deal. The club’s official website has confirmed the football transfer and the long-term contract with Broja, which means The Blues will keep him at the club until June 2026.

Albania striker Broja, who turns 20 in September, came through Chelsea’s youth system and made his first-team debut as a substitute against Everton in March 2020. Last season he played for Vitesse Arnhem on loan scoring 11 goals in 34 Eredivisie appearances. Broja has been on the Blues’ books for a decade and will now be looking to push for a place in Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans in the 2021-22 season.

Speaking to the club’s official website Broja told, “I am really excited to be signing a new contract with Chelsea. Having come through the Academy here it was a special moment for me to make my first-team debut last year, before gaining further experience on loan at Vitesse last season. I want to build on these foundations and I am really looking forward to progressing and making an impact at Chelsea in the years to come.”

In March 2020 former manager Frank Lampard handed the 19-year-old his first-team bow against Everton in what proved to be Chelsea’s final game before the Premier League campaign was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. In an attempt to build up his first-team experience, Broja spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Vitesse and he caught the eye during his time in Dutch football.
