Italy Serie AFiorentina 1-1 Juventus

Fiorentina 1-1 Juventus

The match ends with the spoils shared, but Fiorentina will know they could have had that game sewn up.

La Viola was entirely on top of Juve for much of the half and had several chances to find a winner.

But the final pass or finish was too much for them to handle! Juve defended gallantly but was blunt in the extreme when going forward.

And with both sides knowing that extra touch of quality could’ve gone a long way in that game!

Starting lineup:

FIORENTINA (4-3-3): Pietro Terracciano;

Dodo, Nikola Milenkovic, Igor Julio, Cristiano Biraghi;

Youssef Maleh, Sofyan Amrabat, Antonin Barak;

Christian Kouame, Luka Jovic, Riccardo Sottil.

JUVENTUS (4-3-3): Mattia Perin;

Juan Cuadrado, Danilo, Bremer, Alex Sandro;

Weston McKennie, Manuel Locatelli, Leandro Paredes;

Angel Di Maria, Arkadiusz Milik, Filip Kostic.

GOOOOAAAALLLL!!! There’s the opener!!! Cuadrado’s cross from the byline is met by Kostic deep in the box, who volleys the ball back towards goal where Milik is waiting to stab it home! A real poacher’s finish from the striker is 1-0 with nine minutes gone!

GOOOOAAAAALLLL!!!! La Viola equalise!!!! Terracciano gets a good punch on the corner, and Locatelli can’t get control of the ball. It drops to Sottil, who splits the backtracking Juve defence with a through ball to Kouame, who races clear and slots the ball beyond the onrushing Perin and into the back of the net! 1-1 in Florence.

So, what’s next?

That draw means neither side makes much movement on the table.

Fiorentina rises to tenth but will be aware that despite doing enough to win this game, they still haven’t tasted victory since the season’s opening day.

Juve remains fourth but has now drawn more games than they’ve won, with three of their last four ending in stalemates.

The Old Lady needs to start turning one point into three if they’re to impact the title race severely.
