Euro 2020: Wales vs Denmark prediction and lineup

Wales will take on Denmark on Saturday evening at the Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam for the first of the Euro 2020 last-16 ties. Wales finished second to Italy in Group A despite losing their first two games while Denmark bucked the odds to finish second to Belgium in Group B. Here is our expert guess on Wales vs Denmark prediction and lineup.

Team news

Wales lineup: Ward; Roberts, Mepham, Rodon, Davies; James, Ramsey, Allen, Morrell, Bale; Moore

Ethan Ampadu is unlikely to play this match as he is suspended for Wales after receiving a straight red card against Italy on Sunday.

Wales had a consistent starting lineup during the group stage, and the same will be held against Denmark on Saturday.

Denmark lineup: Schmeichel; Christensen, Kjaer, Vestergaard; Wass, Hojbjerg, Delaney, Maehle; Braithwaite, Damsgaard; Poulsen

After turning their group stage campaign around since that tactical alteration, Denmark will stick with a back three.

Only football player Christian Eriksen will be unavailable for Denmark on Saturday when the team will play against Wales.

Wales vs Denmark Prediction

To qualify for the knockout stage of the European Championships for the second time in a row, Wales finished second in Group A, behind Italy. Denmark moved up to second place with a 4-1 win over Russia in their final group game and will face Wales in the round of 16 on Saturday.

This is the first time the two countries have met since Denmark won both home and away in the UEFA Nations League in 2018. Going into this encounter both teams will be full of confidence but Denmark will be especially confident after their victory against Russia.

The Dragons have had an extra day of rest and have more recent experience competing in the knockout stages of a big competition, which will undoubtedly help them.

Between the two sides, Wales has won four of the last ten encounters, while Denmark has won six, therefore we expect this game to go the distance.

Our Prediction: Wales 1-1 Denmark (Wales to win on penalties)
