El Clasico will see Drake’s OVO Owl Logo on Barcelona shirts

The Clasico matchup between Barcelona and Real Madrid will have Drake’s OVO owl logo on their shirts, according to Spotify and Barcelona. In honor of Canadian superstar Drake becoming the first musician to record 50 billion downloads of his songs on Spotify, the Catalan giants, who are scheduled to face their fiercest rivals on Sunday at Santiago Bernabeu, will don a new take on their iconic Blaugrana jersey.

The team of Xavi will enter the field donning a customized shirt with the artist’s emblem. Xavi has earned over 275 honors over his career, including four Grammys. Upon getting such an honor, Drake wrote on social media, “This doesn’t feel real, but it is.”

For the first time in the club’s history, Juli Guiu, vice president of marketing at Barcelona, said on the club’s official website: We are changing the name of our partner on the front of the jersey with an internationally renowned artist Drake, who is also a winner of 4 Grammy awards as well as a record breaker in different categories, considering he was also one first people favorite artists who accumulated 50 billion streams on Spotify.

This effort demonstrates our ability to develop a distinctive platform that can provide experiences that help us connect with our followers while also reaching out to new audiences globally.

During warm-ups in the Spanish capital, Barca will also don unique training shirts with the name Drake and the number 50 on the back and the Spotify emblem, which is typically on their home kits, on the front. Both Barca and Real are yet to lose in domestic play this year as they head into their most recent Clasico match tied atop La Liga with 22 points each.
