Dortmund coach Marco Rose suggests Haaland could improve

Erling Haaland was once again a hot topic of conversation as Borussia Dortmund coach Marco Rose prepared for the DFL-Supercup. Ahead of Tuesday’s football match against Dortmund, Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern Munich coach, praised Haaland but said Lewandowski’s class had been “proven over several years.” Meanwhile, Marco Rose, Nagelsmann’s counterpart in the BVB dugout, suggested Haaland could still improve significantly.

Haaland made his Dortmund debut in January 2020 joining the club from Red Bull Salzburg. Having scored 62 goals in 61 games across all competitions for the Bundesliga club in the last season the Chelsea target is Dortmund’s standout player.

Erling Haaland has been tipped to improve ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s DFL-Supercup clash with Bayern Munich. “Erling wants to be a complete player – he says that himself – and he’s making clear progress,” Rose said at a press conference.

“He is still young and has so much potential for development. He knows that, too. Just imagine he takes full advantage of that, what a footballer he will become. We’re working on that together,” Rose added. Dortmund enters the match ahead of Bayern in the Bundesliga, with the champions drawing at Borussia Monchengladbach, and Rose is eager to send a message.

“Every game is a measuring stick. You should definitely try to win,” he said. “It’s a prestige duel against Bayern and you can win a title – that’s why we should try to win that. We want to show that we are there and ready for the season.”

The 20-year-old prolific goalscorer is highly linked to a move to European Champions Chelsea. In last month’s football news it has been reported that The Blues owner Roman Abramovich released heavy funds to sign Haaland. The club is said to offer a £150 million deal to Borussia Dortmund, however, £68 million value is in Haaland’s release clause.
