Veteran duo Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller are close to signing new deals with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
The Bavarian side has dominated the last decade of German football with the two as consistent performers while also claiming two Champions League titles.
Both of their contracts expire at the end of next season, but Sky Sports report that they are on the verge of penning extensions at the Allianz Arena.
They want to extend their stays at Bayern until at least 2025.
Muller made his Bayern debut way back in 2008 after rising through the club’s youth ranks.
He made 623 appearances and scored 226 goals (third behind Gerd Muller and Robert Lewandowski).
Neuer signed from Schalke in the summer of 2011, making 470 appearances and revolutionising the role of the modern goalkeeper.
Goalkeeper Sven Ulreich will sign a new contract with Die Roten, with his current terms expiring in the summer.
Fellow goalkeeper Alexander Nubel, who signed from Schalke back in 2020, is set to spend another year out on loan after his spell with Monaco this season, and his long-term future will be decided at the end of next term.
According to Sport1, Bayern Munich prospects Christian Früchtl and Malik Tillman could leave the club this summer. For Früchtl, the move would be permanent:
The 22-year-old has been waiting for his first appearance for the professionals since 2017.
His zero-minute loan in the 2020/21 season at 1. FC Nürnberg also threw him back in his development.
Now the signs are pointing to farewell – out of mutual interest. Früchtl’s contract runs until 2023.
Manuel Neuer, Sven Ulreich, and Nübel was blocking playing time for Früchtl.
Meanwhile, Tillman has been unable to break through into a substitute role at Bayern Munich.
The 19-year-old youngster made a positive impression before the season when the regular players were on vacation at the European Championship.
Tillman got a professional contract but could not recommend himself either in training or in his only starting eleven against Gladbach in early January.
Since then, the versatile attacking player has not played a minute.
Bayern’s plan: the U21 national player should go out on loan, first gaining game practice at a different location.
Playing primarily as an attacking midfielder or a forward, Tillman is stuck behind a plethora of better options for Julian Nagelsmann at this stage.
While something has changed at the club, it remains challenging for young players to ascend into an essential role on the first team from its campus.
