Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati is set to undergo another knee surgery noted to be third for this season. The midfielder suffered a massive injury in November 2020 and has endured a tough time in the 2020 – 21 season, as he has faced numerous setbacks since then. Fati has also not featured in any of Barcelona’s games for a long time and expected not to return to the field anytime soon resulting in missing Euro 2020 as well.
At the end of March, Fati’s knee was examined by two doctors who specialize in meniscus treatment, they recommended a new operation, according to Marca. The 18-year-old player was sidelined from the Catalan team after a terrible injury in Barca’s 5-2 win over Betis in November.
Dr. José Carlos Noronha, who works for the Portuguese national team is taking in charge of the Spaniard’s operation. Cristiano Ronaldo works with him, and he has previously been seen by Pepe, Radamel Falcao, Angel Di Maria, Arjen Robben, and other players. He is regarded as one of the best knee injury specialists in the world.
The doctor believes that Fati will recover quickly from surgery, but more specific conclusions will be drawn on Thursday when he examines the player.
At only aged 18 Ansu Fati became an important player in Barca’s starting XI, making a great impression in La Liga and Uefa Champions Legaue. Fati was originally scheduled to miss around four months. However, more than half a year has now passed and he will not take to the field again this season, nor will he play at Euro 2020 or the Olympics.
