Arteta spoke about Saka’s injury amid World Cup. Mikel Arteta released a statement after Bukayo Saka had to depart Arsenal’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest in the first half due to injury. Saka was injured after just 27 minutes of Arsenal’s 5-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest. The winger was fouled by Renan Lodi in the first minute, and after taking another kick, he decided he could no longer play. After Mikel Arteta, Reiss Nelson stepped into the forward position.
The injury to Saka will worry both Arsenal and England. The 21-year-old had earlier helped Gabriel Martinelli score the game’s first goal, giving him a Premier League season-best of five assists. In the months building up to the World Cup in Qatar, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate will also be checking on his physical condition.
Arsenal manager Arteta was able to provide a positive response when asked whether the injury would prevent the winger from competing in the World Cup after the game. I really hope not, he shot back. After receiving a harsh kick at the start of the game, he briefly had a limp. I don’t believe it goes any further than that, though. Southgate, the manager of England, will be praying that Arteta’s prognosis is correct and the injury is minor. Arsenal may be missing their star winger when they take on FC Zurich in the Europa League on Thursday.
