Ajax cruised to a 4-0 victory over Rangers. It was over at half-time, with the hosts already 3-0 up.
Alvarez headed unmarked from a corner before two goals in less than two minutes from Berghuis and Kudus put them out of sight.
Rangers thought they had a consolation when Barisic fired in a beautiful goal.
But VAR chalked it off due to an offside in the build-up.
Bergwijn pounced on a poor backpass late to slot into an empty net and finish it.

ALVAREZ SCORES! Ajax’s pressure pays off as they take the lead! Berghuis swings another great corner into the box, and Alvarez drifts into the middle unmarked. He flicks his header in from the penalty spot, picking out the bottom corner. 1-0 Ajax!
BERGHUIS SCORES! Kudus bundles the ball into Berghuis’ feet, and Rangers are slow to close him down. He takes it into the box before drilling a low shot across goal, but a big deflection off Sands takes it into the near bottom corner, giving McLaughlin no chance. 2-0 Ajax!
KUDUS SCORES! And just like that, it’s 3-0! Kudus holds off Tavernier before spinning past the defender and surging into the box. The right-back is scrambling back, but he isn’t quick enough as he fires his shot across goal, past McLaughlin and into the far corner. 3-0 Ajax!
BERGWIJN SCORES! 4-0 Ajax! It’s a horrible moment for Jack as he plays a poor backpass into Goldson. Bergwijn pounces onto the loose ball, taking it around McLaughlin, and he coolly slots it into the back of the net, but it looks like he hurt himself in the process.
So, what’s next?
That win gives Ajax an early lead in Group A, with Liverpool and Napoli kicking off shortly.
The Reds are next for them in the competition, after a league match against Heerenveen.
That’s back-to-back defeats for Rangers, who will be hoping to bounce back against Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
